What Is Permanent Blush Lip Makeup?
Permanent Makeup Blush Lip tattoo, also known as lip blushing or lip neutralization, is a cosmetic tattooing procedure used to enhance the shape, color, and define the lips. It also creates a fuller lip due to refining the borders of the lip shape. It involves the use of a tattoo machine with a needle that is used to deposit pigment into the skin of the lips. Sounds Scary? Nah, the needle is not supposed to go INTO the lip, it’s really just whipping/scratching on the layer of the skin, sooooo, it sounds scary but it really isn’t (when done by a properly trained artist that knows what they are doing). My permanent makeup lips client have no pain during permanent makeup lip tattooing, in fact clients fall asleep, and so I need to keep them awake…
The process begins with a consultation (in person or I offer virtually as well) with the best trained and certified permanent makeup artist who will assess your lip shape, skin tone, skin color and desired lip color to create a customized permanent lip design that will last a very long time.
Once the design is approved by the artist and the client, the artist, me of course, will apply a topical anesthetic to minimize discomfort and begin the tattooing process. Again, this procedure is not supposed to be more than a 2 out of 10 painful if done correctly. artist
The artist will use a technique ON the skin of the lips, adding color and definition to the natural lip shape creating a natural looking permanent makeup lip. The pigment used is carefully selected to match the desired lip color and to create a natural-looking result.

How Long Does Lip Tattooing Last?
Your lips will last for 3 – 5 years depending on your skin type and how well you heal.
Regular touch-up sessions are recommended to maintain the shape and color of your lips
Regular meaning: 1.5 – 2 years after your first session touch-up (4-6 weeks after first session).
Note: This may vary depending on your skin type, lifestyle and healing.

What You Can Expect
Is Lip Tattooing Painful?
The short answer is: It depends on your pain threshold.
For most this will feel like a sting or slight burning sensation.
Mild discomfort can be expected when tattooing your lips. I apply a topical cream to help numb your lips and more can be applied if you are pain-avoidant.
If, however, you find it excrutiating, something is wrong and we need to stop immediately. Generally, if you experience exsessive pain, this indicates you are not being tattooed by a professional artist.

How Long Does Lip Tattooing Take?
Depending on your lip shape, thickness and colour, a session can take up to 3-4 hours.
If you are touching up your lips, sessions can take up to 2-3 hours.
The healing time also depends on your skin type and how well you heal, but typicallly this can take anything from 6 – 12 weeks.
I do provide you with an aftercare ointment to apply while you are healing and do have full details on what to expect during the healing process.

Good makeup artists (like me) create soft, natural lip blush makeup. It would be unethical and can be considered scarring or deliberately deforming the face if you go outside of the border of the natural skin of the lip itself. If you would like lips that do not match your face shape or lips drawn outside of the border, I recommend you search for a different artist.
Buyer Beware!

You get what you pay for. I have had multiple clients approach me after their eyebrows have been botched by “cheap” makeup services offering microblading or cheap tattooing. I am not always able to correct badly done eyebrows, unless you have them removed via laser treatment, which can be expensive and lead to further scarring (yes, scarring!).
Good makeup artists create soft, natural eyebrow makeup. We will not recommend going in with thick, black eyebrows, unless you have naturally dark hair and naturally thick eyebrows.
It would be unethical and can be considered scarring or deliberately deforming the face. If you would like eyebrows that do not match your face shape or natural colouring, I recommend you search for a different artist.
Be very careful when selecting an artist based on price alone.
Most clients like to do a yearly boost, but it’s not really necessary depending on how you look after your precious lips. It is important to choose a trained and certified permanent makeup artist who follows strict hygiene protocols and uses high-quality pigments, products, sterilized equipment and expert skills to minimize the risk of infection and ensure a safe and satisfactory result.
